Waverly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation in every form. These standards are published by Wavrly Social LLC, the company that operates Waverly. They apply across the app and website, including accounts, profiles, posts, links, interactions, communities, company pages, and advertising.
For these standards, a child or minor is anyone under 18. Waverly accounts are for people 18 and older only. Child-protection duties and these standards still apply to content or conduct involving children, even though children may not use the service.
Prohibited content and conduct
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, trading, distributing, linking to, or facilitating access to sexual abuse material involving a child. This includes photographs, video, text, illustrations, altered media, and computer-generated or AI-generated depictions prohibited by these standards, regardless of whether a real child is identifiable.
- Sexualization of children: sexualized depictions, commentary, fantasies, or invitations involving a child; sexual exploitation disguised as humor, art, role-play, or an adult-only discussion; and sexualized edits of a child's image.
- Grooming and sexual solicitation: developing or exploiting a relationship with a child to obtain sexual activity, sexual content, or other exploitation; sending sexual material to a child; or directing a child to another service for those purposes.
- Sextortion and coercion: threatening to expose intimate material or personal information to obtain money, further images, sexual activity, or any other benefit from a child. Material created by a child themselves does not make coercion or redistribution acceptable.
- Trafficking and commercial exploitation: recruiting, advertising, arranging, purchasing, or facilitating sexual exploitation of children, including moving a child or arranging contact for that purpose.
- Facilitation and evasion: offering links, coded directions, account networks, or other assistance to find or exchange prohibited material, or using new accounts to continue prohibited conduct.
- Other child abuse and exposure: depicting or promoting serious physical abuse of a child, celebrating abuse, or disclosing a child's private identity or location in a way that creates a safety risk.
These rules apply regardless of claimed consent, intent, or the age an account profile claims. Do not repost abusive imagery to condemn it, identify an offender, warn others, or seek help. Doing so can further expose and harm the child.
What you can discuss
You may discuss child safety, prevention, survivor support, and recovery without sharing abusive material, linking to it, describing explicit sexual details, or identifying a victim without an appropriate basis. A survivor may describe their experience in a non-graphic way. Discussion must not promote abuse or direct people to prohibited material.
Ordinary, lawful, nonsexual family content is not automatically prohibited because a child appears in it. However, do not share intimate images of children, private details that endanger them, or content that could facilitate exploitation. We may remove material when its context or presentation creates a risk to a child.
How to report a concern
Use the in-app report control on the relevant post or account where available, or use the safety request form on this page. You can also email waverlysocialapp@gmail.com with Child safety in the subject. You do not need a Waverly account to report a concern through the website or email.
Provide a content link or identifier, username if known, and a short explanation. Include timing or immediate-risk information if relevant. Give a reply address if you want us to contact you; anonymous reports can still identify content for review. Do not include unnecessary identifying information about a child.
Do not download, screenshot, forward, reupload, or attach suspected CSAM. We do not require a copy of the imagery to accept a report. Do not investigate, contact the suspected offender, or encourage anyone to send you additional material. Preserve a link or identifier only if you can do so without accessing or copying abusive content.
Immediate danger and external reporting
If a child is in immediate danger in the United States, contact 911 or the appropriate local emergency services. Waverly's support channels are not an emergency service and are not represented as continuously monitored.
You can also report suspected online child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline. A report to Waverly does not replace an emergency report or prevent you from contacting NCMEC or law enforcement directly. Do not send abusive imagery to an ordinary email inbox.
How Waverly responds
We review reported child-safety concerns and take action appropriate to the information and risk. This can include removing or restricting access to content, disabling accounts, preventing further participation, and preserving relevant information securely for legally required purposes. Severe exploitation can result in immediate permanent account action. We do not promise that every violation will be detected before it is reported.
When we become aware of facts or circumstances requiring a report under applicable U.S. law, we report to NCMEC or the appropriate authority through the applicable process and preserve information as required. We handle retained evidence with restricted access; ordinary public deletion or account closure does not override a lawful preservation obligation. We do not publish evidence or disclose it to unrelated users.
Our child-safety contact is reached through the safety route on this page or waverlysocialapp@gmail.com. Requests from authorities must identify the requesting organization, legal authority, and a verifiable contact method. Sending a request does not automatically authorize disclosure. We evaluate requests under applicable law and may seek clarification or verification.
Underage accounts
People under 18 may not register or use Waverly, even with parental permission. If you believe an account belongs to a minor, report the account through the safety route and explain the basis for your concern. We may restrict the account while reviewing eligibility and remove accounts that do not meet the age requirement.
A parent or guardian can contact us about an ineligible account or information concerning their child. We may need proportionate verification of the request and relationship. Do not include identity documents, a child's full birth date, school, home address, or other sensitive details in the initial report. We will explain any necessary next steps.
Appeals and related policies
If you believe a child-safety enforcement decision was mistaken, submit an appeal through Support, identifying the account or notice and explaining the error. Do not attach the prohibited material. We may be unable to disclose some information because of a child's privacy, an investigation, or legal restrictions. Review does not guarantee restoration.
